Instant Makeover in A:CONCEPT 💄

New year new look? Oh what a cliche man

Personally, new look can be initiated and created from now on, at anytime! To be frank, recently I've been quite adventurous to discover a variant look for a more presentable one. Beside clothing, I do the same on make up too. Blame my laziness as I aim to maximize beauty effortlessly...ok lah, 'effortlessly' sounds perfect, it should be minimum effort hehe

My beauty discover this round is on Korean inspired make up, essentially done within a kit from A:CONCEPT Korea. Tell you what, I really had a satisfying makeover with quick and easy application!

Product: Make Your Concept - Black Set
4 Items included:

  • All in One Brightening A:Cushion + One(1) Refill Pack (#21 Light Beige or #23 Natural Beige)
  • Everything in A:Coral Lip & Cheek
  • A:Red Orange Lipstick

Brand: A:CONCEPT Korea
Country of Origin: Korea
Sale: RM 106 (50% off at RM 212) via Althea Korea (Free shipping direct from Korea)

Before going into my thoughts after using, spend a minute to view my quick intro on all these lovely items alright?

I really really really really really really like you! 💋
(inserting Carly Rae Jepsen's song lol) I get turned easily into a new look of myself with these essential items. To emphasize again (because it's truly on point), it's about minimum effort especially on the cheek blush and vivid lipstick. And hey make up beginners, it's never just a dream to achieve an easy and instant Korean inspired make up because I've worked it out! I believe you can, too.

Medium-high brightening coverage on face 👍
I have #23 natural beige on it and no regret for the outcome, naturally brightening effect is my preference after all. All in One Brightening A:Cushion comes with SPF 35, PA++ for your UV protection too. Stamp the puff provided on the cushion and do it lightly onto your face evenly and don't forget your neck also. Bonus is, it's long lasting! I applied only one time for a weekend day out and not anymore for the troublesome(at least to me) touch up/reapply throughout the day. Psst..The refill pack is just great to be included in the kit, at least you have time to buffer in getting on hand the next one haha. Spot the illustration about this 2-in-1 cushion case in my video above? It can be attached with the lipstick (or other brands that can fit it) and you can save your time get that little piece from your big, full load yet bottomless handbag, haha!

Soft tint for the girl next door 😍
Sweet 16! This soft and casual coral colour from A:Coral Lip&Cheek leaves a light but soft coverage and kissable lip perhaps? #MableTips Spread widely from the center region of your lip and quick tap evenly with your finger. Also, this stick can be used as cheek blusher, it creates a harmonious tone on my face overall with the soft orangish shade. Just few points on the cheeks, dab it evenly and you're good to go! Simply tutorial also shown on my video above.

Courageous touch for a bolder lip 😚
There're sometimes ladies wanna emphasize on lip make up instead of the eyes, so I guess a catchy and vibrant colour is perfect enough. I have a touch of A:Red Orange lipstick and tell you what, even I myself just can't get my eyes off it too! I bet a red lip like this can anytime catch people's attention, anywhere in or out of camera lens. And I get to know that bright colour lipstick like this is so much trending in Taiwan (since my family vacation last month).

My favourite item:
You might raise your eyebrow but I'm honest to say ALL, the cushion, lip and cheek tint and the lipstick. At least, at the moment I'm unable to pick any of them are rather poor. Once again, simple steps for instantly amazing makeover are just my things!

Suitable for
  • Working ladies - Fast application, high productivity
  • Make up beginners - Easy and minimum steps to achieve Korean inspired make up look
  • Gentlemen - A great gift option for your beloved mum and girlfriend (They would thank you for this lovely kit that doesn't cause a bomb to your wallet😉)

So much thanks to The Butterfly Project for the opportunity given!

Discover Taoyuan International Airport before boarding to Taichung via coach

This post covers about:
-Hi-Life 24 hour store at Taoyuan International Airport
-Buying 悠游卡 Easy Card at the store
Easy Card credit top-up kiosk
-Free self-service photobooth at the departure hall
-Bus from Taoyuan to Taichung (统联客运 Ubus)

After buying bus ticket, we were still earlier, about 2 hours to go before heading to Taichung at 12.05am. So we took this chance to discover the airport. First thing first is the convenience store, that's a must-visit wherever you are in Taiwan.

Click here to view our DAY 1 itinerary, from Penang to Taoyuan, transit Hong Kong.

Hi-Life 24 hour convenience store at Taoyuan International Airport, Terminal 1, B1 floor.

Food section is the highlight not to be missed.
Assorted sausages and steamed buns.
Got the cheese stuffed sausages (New Taiwan Dollar 30 each) and it was perfect for my stomach on that cool night.

Chinese herbal steamed egg

Kanto Cooking (Steamed skewer) in clear soup or spicy soup base.
This Japanese inspired food receives a lot of great response from Taiwanese and now it has become part of the local culture.

Not to forget, the packed beverages like most Malaysians' favourite are 纯粹。喝 flavoured cool drinks.

I think almost everyone wouldn't agree more than getting a easy card when you're in Taiwan. It's like 'touch & go' card used widely in the nation. Click here to learn more if you wish to.
Easy card - Adult (New Taiwan Dollar 100)

I bought 悠游卡 Easy Card over the counter. There're no longer deposit-based card available where we are required to buy the card at New Taiwan Dollar 100 and then top up credit (click ME to learn more), it has a life-time validity so you could use it for good. You could lend it for your friends who are travelling to Taiwan too, but each user require one card, sharing between a card at a time is prohibited. #MableTips If you've no idea amount of credit to top up, you could seek advice over the counter. Let them know roughly know about your travel duration and they can suggest you how much to top up.

Here's ours where you see my young heart mood been activated,少女心泛滥 哈哈. The sales assistant was so good to me to stand aside and picked the nice layout ones.

Easy card could be used in literally every transaction including MRT, public transport and supermarket.

Another great discover was the large screen open photobooth located at the departure hall, nearby Cathay Pacific luggage counters.

Photobooth at Taoyuan International Airport, Departure Hall.

It's free and self-service, there are up to 41 templates as photo background. Just follow the guide on the board and lastly, key in your email and you will then receive a softcopy few days after! My sister enjoyed the most though LOL

We know there's a food court at the lower ground floor of departure hall but the business hour is till 10pm, so all food stall already closed. But we managed to have our lunch there on our last day in Taiwan.

Water dispenser machine is available at the airport, mostly nearby the gate into washroom, so it's pretty convenient and worry-free to get supple of water intake.

There's also top-up kiosk for easy card at B1 as well. It's strategically located at the boarding gate nearby Ubus bus platforms.
Easy Card top-up kiosk at B1 floor, Taoyuan International Airport, Terminal 1.

While waiting for our bus arrive, that's my mum 😊

There's an attendant from Ubus validates our bus ticket and luggage.
For their convenience to put them on bus later, all luggage will first placed together, further than the queue.
PS: Personally, I think it was amazing to have such a strong windy night at the outside, temperature was around 19 degree celsius!

Ubus

Interior look of Ubus.

To our little surprise, it's free seating policy. We were on the last pick-up point and straight we grabbed our sleeping time on bus once we got seated. And off we headed to Taichung!

Taichung Station

This post covers about:
-Flight ticket and details (in-flight meal & some useful tips)
-Custom clearance at Taoyuan International Airport
-4G prepaid tourist SIM card
-Bus ticket from Taoyuan to Taichung

The talking initiated a year ago, flight booked on May 2017 and finally I'm here to share the fun things, itinerary and some useful tips about travelling to Taiwan!

Thanks God and simply everything for fulfilling my family's wishes which is travelling to Taiwan, for the first time. Ever since we agreed that year 2017 is to travel overseas, we'd been keeping an eye on the flight ticket on various airlines, including China Airline, Cathay Dragon, Air Asia and Malaysia Airlines. We emphasize on the schedule time and onboard convenience, and of course, it must be under affordable ticket pricing as well. In the end, we booked for five pax via Cathay Dragon, roughly RM 1,316 for each return flight. We didn't purchase it under any promo and hence, it's a normal pricing. Basically it consists of an economy-class seat. complimentary 30kg baggage allowance and cabin baggage as well as in-flight meal.

We started google must-visit places and asking friends around who'd been to Taiwan before. #MableTips Ask those who had recently been to as they can provide a more updated info. You know like 悠游卡 Easy Card,统联客运 U-Bus,捷运 MRT or 公车 public buses...Whatever I've been told, I jot it down and end up I had a big piece of info, but all uncategorized 😂
And also a big big credit to my sister as I asked her do the searching and listing and filtering where I'm more like her assistant (Bangkok trip was on me so I suppose taking turn is great option, too). I believe she learnt a lot as well! And to be honest, I was simply worried over everything new and strange in a strange place, kononnya travelling, still 莫名小怕 😂

Penang ✈️ Hong Kong
Our flight was 1.05pm from Penang to Taipei, transit Hong Kong. For my own practise, ever since My Acne Nightmare, I've been putting on a facial mask whenever I'm onboard. I came across to learn that the air ventilation onboard is rather poor, therefore, in terms of germs and bacteria, it contains averagely more than on ground. Either for the sake of health and my face, I bring it along from home. #MableTips If you have bad breath or wish to stay from the potential harmful bacteria like me, you could always request for a facial mask from the flight attendants.

My sister spontaneously joined me for putting the mask, just one flight and not anymore after that LOL

Not sure about other airlines but Cathay Dragon's in-flight meal consists of two categories, normal (default) meal and special meal. The first one is based on the catering's menu-of-the-day and the latter one is carefully picked for those with special needs on meal, for example, vegeterian meal, no beef dietary meal, fibre meal and more. Since both category of meal I'm okay to go with, so, I picked the latter one (no additional surcharge applied). For special mealrequest, you have to select it at least 24 hours from the flight time. #MableTips Search online for sample food served at either Cathay Dragon or other airlines so you could have some picture to do selection.

Cathay Dragon Onboard - Kosher Meal

Food served including
  1. Smoked Salmon on Julienne Vegetable Salad
  2. Fruit Salad (Mainly preserved ones)
  3. Chicken with rice (in Indian Briyani Style)
  4. Apple Crumble
  5. Wheat roll, cracker and chocolate truffle
  6. Plain water (Eligible to request for other drinks onboard, free flow)
Out of curiosity, I selected Kosher Meal for my flight from Penang to Hong Kong. I get to know that it follows the Jewish Dietary Law where the meal has its own protocol to follow during preparation. I'm certainly okay to go since I have not much concern on food restrictions, food was acceptable for me

The in-flight entertainment is quite cool, there are various genre and languages of movies, tv shows, songs, mini games, including classical ones but also just off-theatre like IT, Dispicable 3! Cathay Dragon update the list every month, I thought I could have maybe a light sleep but the entertainment kit is simply hooking. There were few times I insist to listen kpop while closing my eyes for a short rest, sampat la me LOL #MableTips You may request for a pillow and blanket from the crew if you need it. As they are running fast, you can do so even before the aircraft take off to avoid disappointment.

Hong Kong International Airport
We reached Hong Kong Airport at nearly 5pm for transit, next flight 6.30pm. Basically, for transit flight like this (Penang to Taipei), there're not much time to hea where you can take your own time to stroll in the airport. IT'S ALL ABOUT FAST WALK! There will be flight attendant guiding on the next gate to head to based on your destination, we were like 走上走下 based on the directory board in order to reach our boarding gate. #MableTips Go washroom onboard before the plane reach Hong Kong (traceable via 'map' from the entertainment kit), then direct proceed to the next boarding gate without wasting time for washroom once touch down. You may go for washroom again when you're at boarding hall.

Hong Kong ✈️ Taipei (Taoyuan)
For an hour and 55 min flight, I went for special meal request again, this time I had bland meal. It consists of soft, cooked food and not spicy. I picked it for the sake of dinner where I wish to have a light one.
Cathay Dragon Onboard Bland Meal

I love this very much, it comes in subway-sandwich style stuffed with chicken meat and assorted vegetables including my favourite pumpkin!!! Best is, it serves warms (to my heaarttt). For drinks we have pre-packed Oo-long tea.

Cathay Dragon Onboard Indian Meal
My dad had this capati-like wrap, he's an all-time Indian meal goer though.

Cathay Dragon Onboard Kosher Meal
Oh dear.. the chicken breast with fried rice is simply tantalizing to me!

We were also required to submit Taiwan immigration form upon entering Taoyuan Aiport. Flight attendant will be distributing the form accordingly. Also, don't forget to make custom clearance if you bring along more than US 1,000 dollar or other sensitive items. #MableTips Bring along a pen to quick-fill the form onboard.

Taoyuan International Airport
Finally, we reached Taoyuan aiport at nearly 8.30pm. Immigration counters were filled with people and it was about 9.30pm by the time we claimed our baggage and proceeded to arrival hall.

Chunghwa Telecom Tourist Prepaid 4G SIM Card
(5 Days Validity - Unlimited Data + NTW 50 Call Credit)

We have mobile prepaid SIM card during our vacation and after referring to friends' suggestion, I selected Chunghwa Telecom as it has wider and better coverage in Taiwan. I picked 5 days pass card (4G unlimited data and New Taiwan Dollar 50 voice call) for New Taiwan Dollar 300. Submit your passport for a record and lend them your phone for the installation and you're done with a taiwan number as well as the return of your existing sim card. Remember to get back your passport when you leave the counter.

There are also other telecom companies like 台湾大哥大. All of them are situated at a same place where the nearest point is on right hand side, a short distance coming out from arrival gate(Terminal 1), just opposite tourist information counter.

We then headed to B1 to purchase bus ticket to Taichung. Follow the flow and you will be seeing a row of counter from different bus companies where bus platform is just right outside. B1 lighting is dimmer compared to the other corners in the airport.

Various bus companies ticket counter at B1, Taoyuan International Airport, Terminal 1.

Taoyuan International Airport - Taichung Station
Significantly, you will see 统联客运U Bus and 国光客运 Kuo-Kuang more on the road in Taiwan , be it Taipei and Taichung, other companies chartered more for the lines that don't have much on tourists' destination.
Our ground public transport (except mrt and day tour) also took either one of the two companies I mentioned above. Click here to see bus coaches available from the airport to Taichung

Bus journey from Taoyuan Airport to 台中(火)车站Taichung Bus Station is approximately 2 hours. To make you clear, 台中火车站 stands for the same place as 台中车站. Taiwanese are already get used to 车站stands for train station where 转运站 refers to bus terminal.

Ubus @ Counter 2, B1 Floor, Taoyuan Airport Terminal 1.

Bus code from Taoyuan to Taichung Station is 1623. Each ticket from Taipei to Taichung costs TWD 280. Senior citizen stands for half price but I'm not very sure how would they verify for tourists. #MableTips Upon paying for ticket, inform the counter assistance how many trolley luggages or bulky ones you wish to put at the luggage section of the bus , they would distribute the sticker label accordingly where you have to stick it on your luggage.

We bought midnight couch to Taichung which is also the last one of the day. Some of you might wonder the reason why. So since the first ride on the next day is 6 something in the morning and we may reach there at 8 something, nearly 9 (our day tour starts at 9am), we think it's great to reach Taichung earlier where we can have our breakfast over there (even we're not eligible to check in hotel yet, but at least we can leave our luggage there). For a complete bus schedule from Taoyuan to Taichung, you may click here (but they are all in mandarin, no english version available)

Almost everything in Taiwan is in e-transaction, bus ticket from Ubus could also purchased online. But it required certain info which we don't see it's necessary to make one since we were not too sure about our arrival before that. You know, there might be chances of flight delay etc.

Kuo-kuong also provide similar coach to Taichung as well, but there's also a Taiwanese exchange intern who I know revealed to me that Ubus provide better service than Kuo-kuong, so we hopped for it first. Because we know we would sure ride for another the following days.

Alright, I shall continue tomorrow, bed time now, goodnight and stay tuned!

  1. Little discover on Taoyuna Airport (Free Photo Session + 24 hour Convenience Store)
  2. Day 2: 8 hour Cab Tour / Meals of the day

26P, Codrington Ave, 10350 George Town, Penang

☀️ The REAL skin-care SPF water even for acne-prone skin, like me.

As I've been stepping out to discover about beauty stuff lately, I'd still prefer to include some elements of health care but not blindly go for "beautifying" myself on the appearance. And so, I stopped applying sunscreen earlier this year (skin disaster again!) and almost bare my face without sunscreen since then.

You ask me why? I've yet to get a really suitable sunscreen for me because my concerns are
  •  sensitive-skin-friendly-ingredients (no alcohol)
  •  no white cast after apply
     and most importantly,
  •  affordable price (around RM 50-60)
Recently, I've came across to know this piece of sunscreen where my attention had been drawn over its ingredients with 7 NO
❌ Paraben
❌ Benzyl Alcohol
❌ Mineral Oil
❌ Benzophenone
❌ Talc
❌ Sulfate
❌ Artificial pigment

Without further thoughts, I made up my mind that die die also need to try this out!

Product: Ultra Hydro Sun Essence SPF 50+ / PA+++ (30 ml)
Brand: Vella Cosmetics
Country of Origin: Korea

Tried and personally proven!
I put a thin layer of the sunscreen as the final step on my skin-care routine, not bragging, but I'm very satisfied with the outcome.
Here's a simple video from me covering about Vella Cosmetics Ultra Hydro Sun Essence.

As you could see from the video, no white cast is spotted after the application!
It turns out to be a clear and dewy face, even confident with my bare look now 😄

It is in watery-essence form which sounds weigh-less compared to cream type.
But it's not easily runny on the skin though, all thanks to the marine extract that made it a little bit like serum type, I suppose.

Some lovey-dovey features you ought to know
#1 Travel size with 'mirror' tag along
It's great to have a bottle of sunscreen within a palm, that simply means, it has less occupying in my bag. But I'm more excited to discover that the square cap could literally be my best companion, mirror, I mean! I don't have to open camera app in my phone since then. So convenient!

#2 It's about skin-care SPF water
I call it skin-care SPF water instead of sunscreen, I'm proud confident to voice out such two-cents of mine! Due to the non-stickiness texture, rest assured over multiple application throughout the day to protect your skin. Yea, you know, like facial mist, fast and convenient.

#3 Nothing more natural than this little bottle
This 30ml of skin-care SPF water contains 61% of Hawaii Kona deep ocean water, natural extract FTW!

Also, with over 30 kinds of ocean extract and 45 plant extracts, plus the 7 No Addictive as mentioned earlier, I could imagine how happy my skin is, all because of the protective ingredient

#4 Wallet-friendly
Instead of paying big for a well-established brand of sunscreen, I guess this one from Vella Cosmestics is simply affordable for student and freshman (like me!). Provided that the ingredients is favourable to me, I could get it at RM 58 via Althea Korea. Do you ever think of buying this as a gift to your sister or bff who have acne-prone and/or sensitive skin concern like me? Not a bad option I know right.

A little drawback on its smell
This is not a fragrance-free sunscreen, personally, it's still acceptable, and I'm quite like the sort of calming floral scent. Those who are in allergy might have to consider before getting one on hand.

Possible for repurchase? Yes, most probably
Limited time offer: RM 58 instead of RM 115 (49% off)
Exclusively at Althea Korea Malaysia

Hai Koay Teow Soup 👋 Fisherman's Wharf Penang, Karpal Singh Drive.

Finally, another affordable food is available at Karpal Singh Drive! Just so you know, a variety of foreign cuisine restaurant are kind of flourishly developing at Automall, and to be honest, sometimes I don't have the craving for any of them (probably tight budget/don't find any great highlights that keen to try out).

Overload of ho liao has be to balanced with the common food or in Mandarin we call them 平民美食, I bet many wouldn't go against with this saying, too.

One of the local's favourite, Koay Teow Soup from Hai has recently opened a stall and coincidentally, we were there during the grand opening!

🏢 Hai Koay Teow Soup @ Fisherman's Wharf Penang, Karpal Singh Drive.

🕑 Business Hour: 11am - 2am (Opens daily)

🚗 Parking: Parking lot (FOC)

💸Payment: Cash.

*Hai Koay Teow Soup owns a restuarant at Relau since 2013 where I'd been dining there from time to time.

There're up to seven options of noodles up to select including Koay Teow, Yellow Noodle, Bee Tai Bak, Maggie, Chor Bee Hun, Mee Sua and Koay Teow Mee.

Koay Teow Soup (RM 5-Small / RM 6-Large)
*Served with minced pork, pork fillet and fish ball
Add on: Egg RM 0.90 and Minced Pork RM 1.60
High five to anyone who like minced meat like I do! I had add-on that whereas egg..uhmm, it was my PIC added it when placing order. Not really obsessed for having egg in Koay Teow Soup, but since it has been order so I'll just take it.

Soup base is apparently a little bit darker but I'm fine on the taste. Not overly salty yet not very refreshing, too.

Yellow Noodle- Dry (RM 5-Small / RM 6-Large)
*Served with minced pork, pork fillet and fish ball
My PIC got this without any negative comment, so I assume it goes well to those who wanna try on dry version. A small bowl of soup is served, so worries-free that it will be dry to chew.

Steamed Chicken (RM 5-Small / RM 7-Medium / RM 9-Large)
It's became a must to add on steamed chicken when we're having Koay Teow Soup.
Must be inspired from Ipoh's Tau Geh chicken where diner couldeat with koay teow or rice, I suppose LOL

The chicken looks slightly pinkish, might not be comfortable for some of the diners. But we're okay with it as we believe colour doesn't indicate doneness (happen also at a fully cooked poultry). The essential oil makes our dining even better with a hearty bowl of Koay Teow Soup.

It's hard to recall the menu but probably it won't differ much from my previous visit at Relau outlet.

Spot the stall beside one selling asam laksa, just a short distance after drinks corner.

Taste: 3/5
Possible for return visit?
50% - if I wish to have some hawker food at Automall neighbourhood
50% - I could visit Relau outlet (near to my house) whenever I'm craving for it
